Tawaf - Circumambulation á´´á´° - by Ustadh Aarij Anwer

Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaathuhu

The Daily Reminder. This is your brother Aarij Anwer continuing on with our discussion of what to do after you have completed the rights of Umrah, and you are still on your trip. You have about 7 days, about a week or two weeks. So what are some good things that we can do to gain some benefit from this trip? My second recommendation is to make a lot of Tawaf.

Put this on the screen: Ṭawāf (طواف) is one of the Islamic rituals of pilgrimage. During the Umrah, Muslims are to circumambulate the Kaaba seven times, in a counterclockwise direction.

An Tawaf is an exclusive act of worship. It is only done in one place in the world. And that is around the Ka'aba. Around the Ka'aba, in the Haram in Mecca. And Tawaf is a really beautiful representation of many things.

It represents the Oneness of Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala). How it is one place in the world where Tawaf happens. And how everybody in the world faces one direction, the Ka'aba, when they are praying. And how it doesn't matter where you are coming from or what status you are, how knowledgeable you are, how ignorant you may be, how rich you are, how poor you may be. Doesn't matter when you come to the Haram, there's only one way to make Tawaf.

And you joins the Tawaf ranks and you make your Tawaf. It´s a very beautiful expression of equality, it's a very beautiful expression of the tawhid of the Oneness of Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala). It is a really really incredible act of worship.

The Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasalam) said...
Giving us an incentive, said the one who makes Tawaf around the Ka'aba seven times, seven circles around the Ka'aba...
And prays two raka'a after this, upon completion. It's the reward of this, the divine reward that we get from Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala), it's as if the person has freed a slave. It's as if the person has freed a slave. What is freeing a slave? Freeing a slave, it's like giving 40000 dollars in charity. It's like donating 40000 dollars. That's the equivalent (modern day) of freeing a slave.

The reward is so immense, because it is such a rare opportunity. It is so rare! So Tawaf is a beautiful action and when you are on your trip, I encourage you to make as much Tawaf as possible. Count the seven circuits and pray two Raka'as. Count the seven circuits again and pray two Raka'as. And this is something that you can do. A few things about Tawaf. A few notes.

1. You should have Wudhu (ablution) when you are making Tawaf. If you lose your Wudhu in the middle of Tawaf, you can go and make your Wudhu, come back and pick up from where you left off. So I am making Tawaf, I made three circuits and I lose my Wudhu. I go, I have completed three circuits, I am in my fourth, I go and make my Wudhu, come back, I start my forth circuit again and continue on. So...just a few pointers about Tawaf.

Also, there's nothing specific that's said in Tawaf. You can remember Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala). You can read the Quran. You can make dua. You can do whatever you want basically, just don't talk on your self-phone, don't interrupt other people, don't elbow people. Just be nice! And the best thing in-fact to do in Tawaf is to make a lot of Du'a. And we'll talk about Du'a Inn Shaa Allah in the next video.

JazakumAllahu Khair for watching so far...
Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaathuhu
