Dividing In The Name Of Love - by Shaykh Zahir Mahmood 

We use the name of the prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) to divide us. 'Brov. Keep away from him, he is a wahabi.' You don't know what wahabi means! But you...you know, you use it. You know, there is this story (may be made up) where they say that there is a Hindu shopkeeper, he used to be in a village and in that village, there was a...a maulana sahib, Not like these, these are the respectful maulanas. That one's a bit dodgy one. And he (fake maulana) used to go to him, and he used to take credit of him. So the credit shop came quiet large and the Hindu shop keeper said, 'Look, Maulana Saab, pay me' He said next week, Next week he came, he said 'next week - next week.' So the Hindu said, from now, no more credit for you. The maulana said, 'you'll regret it! He said, 'you'll regret it!' He (the shopkeepoer) said, 'do what you need to do.'

So come jum'ah, he ascends the pulpit, and he said, 'I have a very important announcement to make. Do you know that Hindu shopkeeper, he has become a Wahabi. Everybody boycott him!'
So everybody in the village boycotts this shopkeeper. So next week he comes to maulana and he says, 'please maulana, take as much credit as you want!' Take as much as you want! So the next week maulana ascends the pulpit and he said, 'Alhamdulillah! I have some glad tidings for you, you know that Hindu shopkeeper who'd become a Wahabi, Alhamdulillah! He has done tawba (repented) and he has become a Sunni again.' 

You see, nobody knows what they mean! But we have 'em on the tip of our tongue and what do we use? SubhaanAllah! We use the love of the prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). We take out of context other people's statements. We justify our own statements! To divide the ummah! And this is on the tip of the tongue of many children. 

There was a Somalian masjid I went once in Birmingham and there were kids, You know ten eleven year old kids on bikes. And I said, 'where is this Somalian masjid? They (the kids) said, 'It's over there uncle.' So I am walking, 'uncle, don't go in there uncle, it's a Wahabi masjid.' So we USE the love of the prophet (sallallahu alayhi WA sallam) to divide the ummah! Whilst the unique thing of the prophet (sallallahu alayhi WA sallam) was that he bought the ummah together. And therefore, you know, everybody's intelligent here, you should think about these things, and educate yourself. Because IF we cannot unite, in this current climate then when can we unite? But this rhetoric is oft repeated and we buy into this. Because see, we wanna feel good about ourselves. We don't have to do much actions. We don't have to do much actions! As long as I love the prophet (sallallahu alayhi WA sallam), What does this love mean, I don't know! And you have a guy...you know, he goes, 'I love the prophet (sallallahu alayhi WA sallam)!' 'I am 'Aashiq- e -- Rasool'' And then you, there is a guy...down the street, who goes to the masjid five times a day. He has a miswak in his pocket because it's the Sunnah of the prophet (sallallahu alayhi WA sallam), he has a beard! Cause it's the Sunnah and he loves the Sunnah of the prophet (sallallahu alayhi WA sallam). And he goes to the masjid five times a day. He is a Wahabi gustakh! And ME, 'I am the 'Aashiq- e -- Rasool'' And come fajr time, I can't get out of my bed. You aint no 'Aashiq- e -- Rasool' You're 'Aashiq- e -- Bed!'
